Stairlift that helps me go up & down stairs.

At first when you are at the top of the stairs & push the button to go down..nothing happens..so I swivel the chair & bring it back..I hear beeping..then about 2 minutes later it starts..it makes 4 bumps on the way down..maybe from the brackets under the track?Going up..it starts after about 2 minutes & again I feel 4 bumps.
